Overview
Fillus is a mobile app that helps patients streamline prescription refills by syncing medication schedules and pharmacy visits.
Many people struggle with fragmented refill dates, multiple prescriptions, and remembering to request refills on time.
Fillus provides a clear, consolidated view and smart reminders to reduce stress, wasted trips, and medication gaps.
The Problem
- Patients with multiple prescriptions often face staggered refill dates.
- ADHD, chronic illness, and busy lifestyles make it easy to forget refills.
- Pharmacies don’t always align medication schedules automatically, leading to extra visits and frustration.
- Missed or late refills can result in health risks and costly lapses in treatment.
The Goal
Design an app that:
- Consolidates refill information in one place.
- Reminds users at the right time without overwhelming them.
- Suggests syncing options to reduce trips to the pharmacy.
- Makes it easier to communicate with pharmacies and doctors about refill alignment.
Research & Insights
I interviewed patients with ADHD, caregivers, and those with multiple prescriptions. Key findings:
- Forgetfulness: People often realized they were out of medication the same day they needed it.
- Overwhelming reminders: Users disliked generic alarms—they wanted context-specific, actionable nudges.
- Pharmacy friction: Some pharmacies allow early refills, but users didn’t know how to request or plan around this.
- Peace of mind: The biggest desire was less stress and more confidence about staying on schedule.
The Solution
Fillus offers:
- Smart Syncing: Automatically calculates the best refill alignment schedule.
- Unified Dashboard: Shows all prescriptions with refill countdowns.
- Adaptive Reminders: Context-aware notifications (e.g., “Your Adderall is ready for refill. Would you like to pick it up with your blood pressure meds in 2 days?”).
- Pharmacy Coordination: Guidance on requesting early refills and syncing schedules.
Design Process
- User Flows: mapped out refill request, pickup, and sync scenarios.
- Wireframes: explored calendar vs. card-based tracking.
- Testing: Conducted sessions with target users to refine features, focusing on ease of use and clarity.
- Iterations: reduced clutter and made notifications more human-like.
Key Features
- Refill Timeline: clear overview of when each med runs out.
- Smart Notifications: gentle, adaptive nudges tailored to user preference.
- Sync Suggestions: refill alignment to reduce pharmacy visits.
- Caregiver Mode: option to track for family members.
